The $2 billion Atlanta-based ERP application provider Infor Global Solutions has a new CEO – Charles Phillips, Oracle Co-President for the last 7 years who resigned last September 2010. He replaced Infor CEO Jim Schaper who moves on as the company’s board chairman as a managing partner at Golden Globe Capital, Infor’s main shareholder.
The move comes at a most opportune time as Infor enters what it calls its 2nd growth phase. Charles Phillips Oracle released to Infor has all the necessary qualifications to undertake Infor’s aggressive campaign as it brings to market its next generation application products which now use Microsoft technologies. It addition, Charles can leverage on his Oracle experience handling middleware GUI to improve market penetration when Infor releases the apps with a common UI to further improve its market shares. In addition, as the main driver in Oracle’s acquisition of 70 companies worth in excess of $30 billion, Charles is well equipped to similarly run Infor’s campaign to acquire new ERP companies like Epicor and Lawson Software. It certainly helps that Charles has a Masters in Computer Engineering from the Hampton University.
The financial and managerial expertise of Charles Phillips Oracle had immensely benefited are now working for Infor which has grown to become the world’s 3rd largest ERP solutions provider after SAP and Oracle. The company has plans under development to go public soon and the board sees that with Charles at the helm, Infor can look forward to a successful IPO as his presence can inspire high confidence about the company’s performance in the public perception.
